At approximately 3:00 p.m. on September 28, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a serious crash on Dwight Boyer Road near M-140 in Watervliet Township. Upon arrival, emergency responders found Chayse Ott, the driver, trapped and unconscious inside his vehicle. Speed was identified as a contributing factor in the crash, which led to significant damage to the vehicle.

First responders worked quickly to extricate Chayse from the wreckage, and he was rushed to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo in critical condition. His family remained by his side at the hospital’s Trauma ICU as he fought for his life.
